Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs Categories
General
1. What does 'web-based application' mean?
Web-based application means that you do not
need to have the software loaded onto the machine that you are
using. All that you need to use a web-based application is a computer
with browser software installed on it together with an Internet
connection via a leased-line, analogue, GSM or ADSL connection.
Alternatively, it can be Intranet-based as opposed
to Internet-based.
2. What are the benefits of using a web-based
application?
The benefits include:
Access - you can access the application
when you are away from your normal place of work because the
software does not reside on your own computer. You can access
the application from any computer with a browser via an Internet
connection. You have centralized data and applications regardless
of location.
Updates - you will always have the
latest version of the software across the whole of your organization.
There is no need for user involvement as all updates are done
centrally and automatically.
Economical - reduced cost of ownership
with reduced risk and more effective use of IT staff and predictable
IT budgeting with one fixed cost.
Simple - a full support solution. New
software, servers and storage are supplied as required.
Secure - high level of security, guaranteed
uptime and automated backup procedures.
Flexible - Allows you to match your
IT needs to your business more closely.
Latest Technology - access to the latest
technologies and solutions without high in-house IT costs.
3. How much does the AIRSWEB application
cost?
Pricing depends upon the mode of access (Internet
or Intranet) and your Organization's size and requirements. We
are focused on building a large, successful customer base. We
therefore believe that you won't find a more economical solution
for the type of capabilities offered in AIRSWEB. Please
contact us for more
details.
4. What is an ASP?
An Application Service Provider (ASP) is a company
that uses Internet technology to offer access to software applications
and related services that would otherwise be located on an Organization's
own computers.
5. Who can use an ASP?
Whether your Organization is large or small
or whether you're a home user, an ASP arrangement saves you time
and money. Small and mid-sized Organizations can deploy applications
that would otherwise involve massive investments in software,
deployment time and IT personnel. Large Organizations may decide
to enlist an ASP to quickly deploy critical applications at an
affordable cost.
6. Why are people using ASP's?
Apart from the benefits described above, other
drivers towards using an ASP include:
- The rise of the Internet as a secure and reliable network.
- The browser as the accepted user interface.
- Increased adoption of server-based computing.
- Spread of e-commerce and supply chain management applications.
- Shortage of IT services skills.
- Increased affordability.
- Desire for simplicity from end-users.

Miscellaneous
1. What security does your AIRSWEB
application have?
AIRSWEB is secured using
SSL (Secure Socket Layer) which provides an encryption between
the web browser and our web server. The strength of the encryption
is typically specified by the size of the session key (a unique
value involved in the encryption that differs for every customer
and every time the application is visited). The session key can
be either 40-bits, 56-bits or 128-bits in size. 128-bit encryption
is regarded by cryptographers to be "uncrackable" as
it would take millions of years with the fastest computers to
try all of the combinations - but 40 and 56-bit keys are not as
strong and it would be feasible to try the combinations.

AIRSWEB is secured using
a 128-bit Thawte
Digital Certificate. This ensures secure communications by encrypting
all data to and from the application.
AIRSWEB also incorporates
a secure Company Name/User Name/Password scheme to protect your
data from unauthorized access.
2. How scalable is your AIRSWEB
application?
AIRSWEB is designed to meet
the needs of Organizations both large and small, whether you operate
from a single site or have a multi-site global network.
